About Me
My name is Jeremy Robertson. I grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan, going to South Side Baptist Tabernacle where my pastor was Christopher Wass. Now, I'm a member of Berean Baptist Church in Beloit, WI, under Pastor Kelvin Swanson. In 2022, I graduated from Maranatha with a bachelor's in Humanities and a Master's in Bible. Now, God has called me to serve as a missionary in Odesa, Ukraine with Missionary Mark Priem and his church.
When was I born again?
From when I was born, my godly parents kept me in church and taught me the truths of the Bible as well as the central truth of the gospel. But the facts that I acknowledged in my head I never accepted as true for me personally. Though I went to church and said the right things, I was dead in my sins. Still trying to act like a Christian, I left for Maranatha Baptist University in 2017. But in my first semester there, God showed me continually that the true Christians there had a hope and life that I did not have.
On Sunday, January 6, 2019, I was back at my home church (South Side Baptist) for winter break. On that Sunday morning, God opened my eyes to the fact that I am a sinner deserving Hell. Even though I knew the gospel, my mind could only think, "God could never forgive a sinner like me." Until, in the service, I listened to a choir song that spoke of the blood of Christ that washes away all sin. That morning, I turned from my sin and accepted Jesus Christ's sacrifice for me, trusting that it is enough to wash away all my sins.
That same Sunday evening, I was baptized by Pastor Christopher Wass at South Side Baptist. Since Christ saved me on that day, I have been a new creature whose only goal is to follow Christ.
Why am I going to Odesa, Ukraine?
A couple of weeks after I got saved, God began working on my heart to surrender to foreign missions. I surrendered to be a missionary outside of the US, wherever God wanted me to be. In the summer of 2021, I decided to visit Ukraine for two months to work with Missionary Mark Priem in Odesa. For the first time, God put on me a burden for the Ukrainian people. I had a strong desire to return to Odesa and serve there.

However, when the war began in Ukraine in February of 2022, I decided not to go to Odesa immediately, but instead to work with Ukrainian refugees in Timișoara, Romania. In August 2022, I started an 18-month missions trip to Romania and worked with Missionary Tim Tyler. While there, I also took two trips into Ukraine that confirmed that God wants me to minister in Odesa.

Now, I am being sent out of Berean Baptist Church in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Odesa, Ukraine. I will work with Missionary Mark Priem at Lighthouse Baptist Church.

What will I do in Odesa?
My goal in Odesa is to share the gospel, teach Christians, support the local church, and represent Christ. Because of the war, many of the Ukrainian people are experiencing the greatest difficulties of their lives. But through this terrible situation, God is doing wonders.
For one, faced with life and death each day, Ukrainians are far more open to the gospel, especially from those who daily represent Christ well. The opportunities to share the gospel are many. For example, Lighthouse Baptist Church already meets regularly with certain groups to offer food to the needy and to have a time to share what the Bible says. Through this, people hear the gospel twice a week, see the testimony of Christians, and get opportunities to ask questions.

In addition, many new Christians in Odesa need to be taught and discipled. I hope to be part of teaching and studying the Bible with new Christians and teenagers. Part of the Great Commission is to teach converts so that they can, in turn, teach others in the church.

Because I will be working under Mark Priem as pastor, part of my mission in Ukraine is also to support him and the church in any way possible, allowing him to continue leading and teaching.
